The Dale Girls: Erinn, Olivia, Meg, and Joanna
My name is Meagan Knight, and I am a Community Worker at The Dale Ministries in Parkdale, Toronto. The Dale is a church and community organization where those who are often on the margins are brought to the core. This could be for a variety of reasons, including homelessness, mental health stuff, and addictions. We believe that we all have something to give and receive, and we work to practice this as a community by serving meals together, praying together, sharing responsibility for our community wellbeing, and passing peace to each other (just to name a few!)
In order to do this work, I must fundraise my entire salary.
This includes reaching out to people to invite them to participate in this community by financially giving to my work. All of The Dale’s general funds as well as staff salaries are fundraised, or given by grants and organizations.
This is where the newsletter comes in!
I send out this newsletter mainly to my financial support team, but have decided to make it more accessible to others. I use this newsletter to keep people up to date on the monthly happenings of our community and neighbourhood. This way, people can know more deeply where their money is going, what I do from week to week, and what we are up to.
